Here's an example of the high quality bronze valves manufactured by Westin Engineering. The main body is of bronze and the sealing face insert is made from Morganite.
The outer diameters and holes in the face are turned on a live tooling lathe and the groove for the Morganite sleeve and the radius in both the valve and the sleeve are made on 3-axis CNC milling machine.
The combination of bronze and Morganite in engineering is commonly used in applications such as valves and seals, pumps and high-performance bearings.
